Firstly I want to explain, why this rating is so high. The VZ8m is 14years old and at its time,it was a wonderful synth. If compared to actual models, the VZ8m would only get a 1.
The VZ8m is a child of its time.In one RU you find a conplex OS,wich runs through several menues. Fortunately the 8m has more buttons as other competitors of its time. The synthesis is exactly that, what you can expect from a VZ1/10m or the similiar Hohner series. The 8m is a special version of the iPD synthesis, it was adjusted to the needs of Midi-guitarists and Midi-windcontrollers.So it has three modes. Normal Keyboard,Midi guitar and Midi WX mode. The 8m is only 8 voice polyphony(wich makes sense for Midiguitars or Blowers). Therefore it works in the operation Mode with 8 Single Sounds, instead of four in the VZ1/10m.Also it has a nice panning function, wich the big brothers does not offer. Interesting are also such Parameters like delay. The delay offers an amount up to 12 seconds delay. iPD synthesis itself is mostly underrated and really not so academic as most people talk about. But also is iPD not FM.Both synthesis versions belong to the same family of Waveshaping, digital Virtuality is also a member of it.
The VZ8m is something for specialists. Are you a Midiguitarplayer or a Midi Windblower ? Choose the 8m instead of the big brothers. For programming an additonal VZ1/10m would be great, beacause of its better display and smoother editing. But to all you buddies, who expect an easy synth,I can tell you only one thing "Move on".
