I love the little thing, and you get 1.4 secs of sampling time, but what I used to do was sample LPs at 78rpm (takes a while, and a good eye to get something "right,") but then just move down the keyboard from middle A, and you get much longer samples.

A really magical little unit!!! The SK-1 is a great little LO-FI wizard which is able to add crazy elements to your songs. The sampling function is really "cheesy" (but in the most positive meaning) and the preset-sounds are great "CASIO-plastic-sound"! I love that little thing & won't ever give it away!

The CASIO SK-1 is the one to get!!!

Bought it in original box with all manual for 5$ in a church yard sale. Great fun for the price, very cool machine for playing around in the studio or in camping, nice simple beat, when amplified it sound very cool... line in is cool for sampling dirreectly from computer or other instruments. If all cool instrument were not overprice more people would used them and less people will collect them (i hate that) ....

Bought it at a yard sale and can honestly say it s the best ten bucks i spent . You can get some great samples on the line in, but the builtin mic sucks pretty bad, and the 4 note polyphony doesnt get kudos either. fun to just sit and figure out how to get decent samples and great play around with in the car. Its cool but its no microkorg

Picklesnortface a hobbyist user from The Sewers of Dallas, Texas writes:
When I was little, my dad gave me this synthesizer. I then let it rot in my closet for about 3000 years. When I remembered I still had it and pulled it out, the batteries were corroded and a key was missing but once I replaced the batteries and turned it on it worked perfectly. I've messed around with it a lot, using the sampler to make annoying noises. If you want to annoy people at a party, burp into the sampler, then hit the key that says "demo". It will play the demonstration melody using the burp, driving everyone nuts. I recommend this keyboard for anyone looking for a cheap but worthwhile electronic buy.
