I too, have had this keyboard since I can remember... my first electronic instrument. Many hours have been spend sampling fart noises & obscenities! I lost it for a while, then discovered it as I was beginning to make my own music, and it's the best thing. It makes extremely distorted sounds (due to its crappy 11khz and 4 bit-ness) when you plug in the radio to it.. also it has 1/4 & 1/8 inch sampling inputs! Great for all kinds of electronic music, also, try this trick: sample the flick of a finger, like you would do to flick a paper football, into the mic, and then loop it. This adds an automatic extra sound to the keyboard because you don't need anything else! Unless of course you have no hands.. but then again you've got bigger problems.. anyways, it makes a nice raw saw sound.. and put the sk-1 through some nice reverb&delay... its beautiful. I'm getting an sk-5 soon! 4 samples at once, you can store them when its off, and a built in "lion" sound! YES!

Well thats my 2 bits, - Akira

I picked this up a few years ago for £10 not knowing what a bargain I'd come across! With a little playing around you can get some really nice sounds from this, and I like the drum patterns too. There is only one downfall which nobody else seems to have mentioned - change the batteries or unplug the thing and the samples are gone. Probably best to use it with batteries as back-up until yu can transfer your sounds to something more permanent. If anyone ever wants to sell theirs, drop me a line, I wouldn't mind a spare!

The SK-1 is the best mini sampler i've ever seen, i love the drums, it's the best pre-sampler; sample a loop or a sound, then transport it to your `real' sampler for further processing and looping. There's no way to get that wondeful grainy 8 bit sound on your $2000 sampler. great for techno.
