Ok, had for 2 months now and can't still believe it. It simply is so amazing for so little box! Now saving for the big brother...

The MM is indeed digital-sounding, but there are ways you can make it sound not so digital like pipe it through a good fx box. If you want to hear an example of this, listen to my track "From the Heart" which uses the MM as the lead sound.
Check it out on www.mp3.com/gg
You can't go wrong with this box for the price. Stop complaining and make some music!

I was all set to buy a MM, and spent some time trying one out in a shop. The shop wasn't geared up to demonstrate it with the editor, but I'd already played with that at home and was very impressed. I couldn't believe though.. after an hour of going through the presets that for all it's wonderful specs, the overall tone of it just didn't appeal. It was just mega digital, very harsh, like a hi-fi version of a SID chip or something. Not particularly pleasant. It could have been the presets, but it was enough to put me off buying it.

I just found a Nord Modular at a Pawn Shop for $259. It looks so simple, I decided to check the 'net to see if that was a good price. After reading all of your comments, I'd guess it is worth that. Sadly enough, I'm still gonna have to wait for pay day to buy it!
