This is a follow-up to a previous review...after spending 2 years with this synth, all I can say is WOW !! I never cease to be amazed by it. It comes loaded with a ton of sounds, unfortunately (for me) they tend to be of the more of the techno/trance variety. But a little tweaking provides practically any synth sound imaginable. I have spent time programming custom analog (Minimoog) sounds on this, and even without layering/doubling, I have come up with some of the fattest, nastiest Minimoog sounds...vintage sounds from ELP/Rush/Yes, etc.(in fact, I just programmed the exact Minimoog patch Rush used on "Tom Sawyer"...it took about 2 minutes). And they can be 24 note polyphonic at the push of a button...plus velocity/aftertouch...FM synthesis as well...full graphic LED displays on each pot...patch or note layering on the fly...I could go on and on. I'll go out on a limb on this one...I have owned or currently own the Minimoogs, Prophet-5's, Oberheim OB-8, Yamaha DX-7's, and the Virus KB and KC....but...THE NORD LEAD 3 IS THE FINEST PERFORMANCE SYNTH MADE, even 4 years after it's release. No effects...just a killer sound engine, and a even better user interface.

Had it for a year now. I always run it through processors. Sounds SSSSSSSSSoooooooooo good. It may not sound really analog and it doesnt have to. I bet ya I can get it sounding wwwaaaaayyyy better than an A6 after processing. And still spending less $.

coincidentially , i happened to pass by this nl3 review, couldn't help but give it...

truly amazing synth...if only propellerheads reason sounded as good...software may be convenient but will not be as reliable and good sounding as hardware (the only good software is cubase sx vst, NI, however cubase crashes).

I make trance music mostly, tiesto and such...and the dude arnold is right, tiesto, became famous after he played yahel's composition voyage...(in the beginning tiesto didn't make his own music, he played other people's music)...I went to yahel website and saw he uses NORD LEAD II, all the best artists have this.

In the US sadly, none of the israeli trance artists are that popular, except for astral projection that is...here we are constantly bombarded by electronic garbage (hip hop, rap, minimal techno, house, cheezy trance, britney-style pop (no good synth pop like depeche mode, etc), and what not)....

i have been to europe...germany, sweden, belgium, amsterdam, they have great electronic music...i would love to go to israel...i have heard some of their trance its so f***ing amazing!!! even better than a lot of euro-stuff...due to terror attacks, i can;t go there, so i hope yahel, AP, and such come to USA!!!

CHEERS, Craig
