Coming from a Nord Lead and a Nord Lead 3, I was pleasantly surprised how really good this sounds, its capabilities are endless, and it sounds better than any of the recent nords, even the nord lead 3, the sounds are rich and detailed, but the preset sounds are pretty awful in places (good job Im a sound designer) so I have been tweaking away with some amazing results, its definitely the only synth you will ever need, it stands out on its own head and shoulders above the rest, but be prepared to spend some time learning what does what, it is certainly capable of some really jaw dropping stuff.

I rarely write reviews but this one deserves it. It's a fantastic synth. It has shortcomings in terms of modulation possibilities but the sound completely makes up for it. If you tweak it you'll be rewarded. It sounds big, full and detailed.
the osc options are super deep. You can PM or FM a spectral wave with samples or with complex FM algos for example. no other synth allows these kinds of timbres. The virus is the obvious contender but I think the nord sound is more refined. Bright and sharp.
5 stars for clavia even if the OS is still under development.

The greatest syth there is!
Analogue, FM and more!
The factory sounds are boring, but if you go from them and do your own sounds it is soooo great!
The best I ever tested! Yamaha, Roland, Korg and Access has nothing to compare just now!
Buy it or just tweak it for some hours to reveale the real potential!
Sorry for the English?

This is the shit!
Just tweak some factory sounds and you are in heaven! Innovative as usual Clavia!
People just dont understand the possibilities with this great Synth, and it can sound just crazy! and analogue!
Test it really deep dont just tweak it for a few minutes, test it for a long period and you get revarded! I dont fool you! just add a external fx and you are in heaven!

The Nord Wave is incredible, not so much because of the inherant sounds or samples out of the box (although the Mellotron samples are extremely authentic and cool), but because of what you can do with them. Tweaking is incredably easy and fun, as is loading programs and sounds off your computer via the included Nord Wave Manager. The built in effects (overdrive, chorus, delay) are very cool as well, and are a first for Nord Performance synths. It does virtual analog, sample (waveform) playback, FM synthesis, and any combination/mix of those...definitely a one of a kind unique synth...and like all Clavia stuff, built like a Swiss Army Knife. Complaints are few, like lack of aftertouch for anything but vibrato, or the omission of rotary LED encoders, like on the Nord Lead 3. But after using this for a week, I feel that those are minor gripes, and don't seem to bother me at all.
