This is the only synth that i can make sounds of my own tase = fat and hard basses and silk smoth pads from outer space. I have almost have them all like Supernova II, Virus, Roland but they are harder to make your own sounds on. If you have a sound in your mind you can almost everytime create the sound on the Nordlead. It is the most creative synthesiser on the market.

i bought it at only $900 brand new from japan back to early 98,its a bargain u know, but price is not all the thing, the main point of a synth is its sound, the nord is great va compared to those japanese va.it's raw enough but not wild and punch enough though.i felt it can reach a level of a poly800's sound plus a little bit more advantages of the fm/distortion parameters to add its edge, thats all.yes, the nord lead keyboard design/pitch bend/mod wheel material is unique,i really appreciate it all the time(even the immoral yamaha copied a design of the nord lead one 's keyboard shape to their cs1x,i ever saw one even painted in red colour ,same a sthe nord on a keyboard technique book's cover).return to the sound,it's raw,but not really come close to the best real analog, but it's surely best in the va scene, even i think it's better than the new nord lead 3.i sold mine to get more real analogs, but i'm sure in the moment i 'd still buy this great board even if it's $1500,not $900.

I had a Waldorf Microwave XT.. which had some amazing sounds coming out of its mouth.. though I wasn't able to use it properly cuz I produce techno. Now my friend, SCAN X of F Communications does a live PA with this Microwave XT, but I dont produce his style which is very Frenchish and uses a lot of syhtesizers. So I traded my XT for this Nord Rack II.. and YES!!! this M.F. bring to me the sounds of the underground rawness.. Basically I dont care about it being true analogue or not.. I care about the sound it produces.. and instantly I used it in a new track I did and knew this was the machine I have been waiting for.. its very easy to use for dumb non technisians like myself, very easy to start making music without goin through all of the functions.. you play, you twitch a knob or two.. and BABANG!!!.. rock that M.F. .. !! Never sell it.. treasure this little beast!!!
