Hello synthex77. I have a JX10 (with the pg800) ,an alfa juno , a nordlead and many other analog or VAs. Call me crazy but between the 3, my favourite is the nord. I find the jx10 sound so boring (trying to sell it), the alpha good but noisy and sometime too aggressive (i use it for bass, great). I love the nord cause the sound easy fit in the mix. Also filter is similar to the roland one and got a FAST attack so it's suitable for dance tunes (if you like it) Nl2 and nl3 doesn't sound better, i tested nl2 (just a little flat sounding) and nl3 (boring). So i went for the original. Please stop comparing VAs to RAs. They are different beasts. RAs is preferred most of time (warm, aggressive) but sometime you just need the digital edge of VAs. I love my nord anyway.

mmm... i don't like much a nord lead, i'm an alien? Is only a decent polysynth virtual analog, many virtual and poor analog... I have buy one and sell it after 2 months, but for many people is a good synth ( many people say it analog!!!). I think the nl2 or nl3 are better, but i don't tested. In italy nl1 used cost around 600 euros, at this price i buy a real analog like jx10 or prophet600 or another good synth...

I picked one up off ebay a few weeks ago. I used to have a Nord Lead 2. I sold it for a K-Station. Go figure. What a mistake that was. Anyway, the Nord is awesome. I have OS version 2.4, which is cool, but it's only 4 voices. I'm definitely going to get the 8 voice upgrade. The Nord compliments my Korg MS-2000 and my Yamaha An1x well.

Hey Folks, You are not going to find a better VA in the ways of the Nord Lead, the build quality, sound, and versatility of this instrument is unmatchable. It took me nearly a year to find one, and now that I have one I will never let it go. If you want quality buy a Clavia, and make sure you buy a Nord Lead. I can't give less than a five, remember this thing came out in 1995, and newer synths from other companys just don't come close. It is still as good as it gets.

The nord lead is my second synth, my first being a prophet 600. It is almost as straight forward as the Prophet in terms of learning how to use it. Its layout is genius, I did not need the manual to figure it out. As for sound this baby is sex to my ears. It sounds like nothing else and I will keep it in my studio forever. It makes great fuzzy and distortion sounds, without any effects! I have not tried to add effects to it yet, but it really does'nt need any. I have'nt been able to edit the percussion yet since I don't have the expansion card. This synth has a lot of character and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a synth. Worth every 60000 pennies I spent on it. Hats off to the red box!
