Fat synth. I bought one for $100. I own both the white and the black version. I remember still having a tape somewhere with some patch data on it. There's a beautiful Electric Piano on this synth. Truly amazing. Was working with a electronics expert to create an external controller module to access all functions with some knobs. Too bad that expert didn't have time anymore to fiddle around with this great synth. Check out the three (3!) LFO's. Modulate the OSC's at very high values with some LFO's and see what happens !!!!!!!!! Everybody should have a BIT99. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A EXTERNAL CONTROLLER FOR THIS MONSTER ???????

fuckin amazing when it works so harsh and so sweet all at the same time. But unfortunately my bit 99 (black with blue and green)needs to be kickstarted with a hairdryer,it seems to need heat on excess current flow small circiutboard that joins to the radiator flaps at the back.It also totally detunes the osscilatos so that one note sounds like a horrible chord. I any one knows whats up with it then call me on u.k. 0131 557 3538. Cheers

John van Roy a hobbyist user from The Netherlands writes:
Great sounds, if you know how to make them. Programming is much better to handle with special software. ( I created a program for atari 1040 ST) Good massive voices. A pitty the synth can only handle six notes at the same time.

I'ts patches can be exchanged with the BIT 01 synth, just need a different instrument ID to enter exclusive mode. Now looking for an editor wich works with windows95

NIklas Wallin a hobbyist user from SWEDEN writes:
It's fun to play on ..I spend hours with it withuot taking notice of the time and it feels good.. just need some weights on the keys and its great. take some wheelbalancing weights... and the + - button NEEDs to be replaced by some electronics..and the buttons.. replced by some better ones.. With some not to advanced electonics I could make the BIT 99 a real monster,. with all the params. available instantly with pots.. like some old moog.. That will be my next project. . maybe I can sell it.. IF I can make it work .. ... the earphones output have TOO much noise.. it's awful.. need some other amp. circuit.. but the real outputs are VERY good..

CvH a professional user from Stockholm writes:
Very analog sound; CEM3340. Lots of unwanted extra noice from my BIT01, none from my BIT99. (both are black with green lettering). Does excellent moogbass, unfortunately both stays in tune perfectly, not that much character (its 1984). Tune them apart just a little and listen to something fat... Midi-implementation is annoying. Lots of resonance. You get a lot of sound for $200, and a very playable instrument (depending on the programming). Its not an Oberheim, a Moog or an ARP, but its a BIT.
