I used my DS-2 exclusivly from 1981 thru 87. I totally loved it, but remember wishing that it had better polyphonic sounds. The pitch bender was also a source of frustration, as it would not return to proper tuning after use. I remember making a habbit of always returning the bend wheel to rest from below to combat tuning instability. I really liked the layout of the controls. They were great for real-time alterations. I still own mine, but haven't played it for quite a while. After I send this, I think I'll pull it out of the attic for a little reunion. The switches and slide controls on my unit are 100% in tact! I guess I'm lucky.

I bought mine way back in 1987 for £50 before the analogue revival ;)!!
A great synth with some solid sounds. I used to have loads of fun putting external sounds through the VCF. Sadly it stopped working two years ago after being stored for a year. I've recently found some circuit diagrams, now I just need an electronics expert to fixed it.
No synth is perfect :- this synth is built into it case and the weight make this one problematic for gigging.

The Crumar ds-2 is one of the greatest synths I have played. I am a proud owner of a ds-2 and let tell you, its a treasure to have. I am not sayin its the best but it can hold its own in a death match of the wired. Although some of the flaws I find in it is DCO 1 and 2 isnt polyphonic and with my ds-2 is when you use the pitch bend wheel, DCO 2 goes completely out of tune. But mine is from '78 so it will have its flaws. other than that I love it! It can produce some of the phatist tones availible.

My first analog!!! I love this old synth, i have used in some production fot it's filter, for filter drum and another external synth, and for create old and warm poor string pad... Have some modulation and use the dco, but sound fat, the filter is a god 24/db lpf... I have selled this beacause don't work well a monophonic part, but if i find one perfect i buy it.

My DS-2 has a low serial number (n�150) and I bought it for 400 euro + 150 euro service. I like the pwm and lfo's. It has a external input for additional sounds or signals from other machines. A standard 24db lowpass filter + resonance, which sounds wonderfull. I suspect the DCO's of my synth are broken, because there's a sine tone with a high frequency when the DCO is selected to a sawtooth...(but it still works well for me). The strings section is one of my favourite, full polyphonic. This is nice for smooth pads and chords. There's written on it "Digital Synthesizer" and this synth is 24 years old... A nice buy!!!
