I've had one of these since 1989. It is my favourite synth, It has a unique sound unlike anything around at the moment. It is like a combination of FM and analogue with a digital edge:). It can create lush pads, dark atmosphere's, and massive bass. It can also serve the top end leads very well indeed. Very, very, flexible, for me, it is easy to program now, I know the thing inside out(which is good, because my internal memory no longer works, the batteries leaked one time and ruined that part of the machine!). I'd buy another one if I saw one and I was in the buying mood:) For some examples check out www.mp3.com/safred

IF THE KEYBOARD TURNS ITSELF OFF: Because the CZ1000 can run on batteries, it has a battery saving feature called Auto Power Off. This tuns the keyboard off if you don't do anything with it for five minutes. To turn this feature off, find the small switch marked APO(next to the Line Out and headphoe jacks) and switch it off.

EASY BATTERY CHANGE The memory is powered by flashlight batteries. Just turn the keyboard over and open the battery compartment. I believe that I've heard that you can change your batteries (quickly) without loosing sounds. You only have a short time though. The keyboard can be run on these batteries if you aren't plugged in.

friend sold me his for $40, great investment:), although this synth is a bitch and a half to program(god damn 8 stage envelope), it can get a wide variety of sounds, i like to use it for those reallyb leepy sounds...with modulation...the sounds i think i shouldn't use an expensive synth to make because it can do better sounds...the synth really sounds fat tho, dark too, you can get some Crazy sounds out of it...very very very fun to sequence via seq303:), a little too much fun heheh, all in all it's a GREAT value, what else can you get for $100 that can make u 1 warm sound and have midi? well besides an s612...casio rocks, i have an sk5 too and love it dearly...it'z amazing how cheap you can get a set up for if you're willing to go the extra mile and use casios...i had an idea...for effects sk5 looping a small little bleep to create a synth kinda sound...creates raw sounds...throw a delay for effects, and an rz1 for beats(casio's sampling drum machine, seems like it'd be interesting), a cz1000, cz1, cz101 cz5000 all the cz and a vz...seq all individually by seq303...and you'd have some very very interesting sounds and tracks.... sk5 topping it off with it's raw crunch grittiness:), sample a word or 2 with it:)...and it'd only be like a $500 set up....heheh and a few synths and a sampling drum machine later...
