very, very nice. small keys are awkward, but the sounds.. the sounds are like no other synth you'll find. the ringmod, the tone mix. phat phat phat. well worth any price under $200, or go for the full sized cz-1000 if you don't like small keys.

Um..the autoshutoff feature can be disabled through a little switch on the right side of the CZ101.

Regarding the synth itself: Not very personal or expressive, (it's extremely digital in every aspect) but so much fun! You can get some very weird noises out of it, though the more I play with it, the more limitations I've found. The noise and ring-modulation features are fab, as is the solo/portamento (which is what you need if attempting to make any analog sounds)

Cool things it can do: Noise (ala Download) Theremin sounds easily slow analog basses weird-ass drumish noises

Ho boy! A lot wetterer than my minimoog. Picked one up yesterday from Jordan Kitts music (was a trade-in) for $50. By the way, peoples, I discovered a way to beat the 10-minute auto shut-down feature. Simply edit any parameter, and leave it in edit mode, so that the "Compare/Recall" light is illuminated. That way, you can leave the yewknit on all year. This little grey/green tonka is a great companion for my SK-1 (you can also override the auto shut-down on this box, too...simply switch it to chord mode and press a key). The CZ can do some great Memorymoog impersonations. Ring mod ruuules.

Totally mental sounds! This thing sounds so good next to a novation drumstation... And those resonant waveforms! :) :) :).. You can even get a nice dance kick out of it...

For the price/sounds/ease of use/buttons for everything/cool 80's logo .... 10/10
