I have owned this synth for about a year, and It is my main sound source. I use soft synths for pads, but when it comes to bass, lead, FM, FX, noises and percussion, the A-110 takes no prisoners. I currently have a small 24 module unit, but another 6U worth of modules is on the way, with high end A-111 VCOs. The VCPhaser is mind blowing, and the filters scream and shout! It's permanently going through a channel strip, otherwise I'd be buying new monitors everytime I play the damn thing! I've played the Virus B, Supernova, MS2000, JP8080, and LOADS of soft synths. If you are into monophonic sounds, sell what you own and buy it. You can get an MCV 24 and make it polyphonic as well,(provided you have enough oscillators)and have CVs that are synched to MIDI. Even if you own A-111, it is worth getting the A-110 since it has an imperfect wave form that gives it a distinctive sound. The closet thing to it is the SH-101 but the sound creation capabilities (not quality)is rather limited. 11 out of 10!

I just got an A100 Mini System last week. It's only a 3U rack and the baby ofthe bunch but I have found it to be an extremely powerful synth never the less.

The sounds I've been getting out of it are huge and it sits well with my other analogue synths (System 100, MC202).

I only had trouble with the CV interface config which was a little daunting but I got it after spending an hour with the manual.

I am now planning my next rack! The modules and racks are expensive in Australia but I think I've discovered a new obsession ;)

This is my sort of modular. Small, well built and German. I have a 12 unit model and it does everything I need. The sequencer is good but only 8 step. Brilliant for sound processing.

Ison a hobbyist user from U.K writes:
As one of the more accessible systems it warms my heart to find other enthusiasts. And with the Trautonium module on its way i can think of nothing bad to say about this excellent modular. The Theremin module had me worried at first with its mini jacks for the Antenna but this was easily remedied with a phono socket replacement. Whats more Dieter will respond in person to even the most basic query. An invaluable service which is most welcome. Complaints have been levelled at the small size and minijacks but in use i find this almost no problem. Much less of a problem in fact than lengthy and glitchy OS updates so prevalent in software driven synths.
