I bought a Roland E-16 in February, 1997. I tried a couple of different models made by Yamaha and a Kawai model and found that Roland to be the best of those I tried. I paid $1,000 for the keyboard at a local reputable music dealer and was told I could trade up at any time. This is also my first experience with an electric keyboard (having played piano for 40 years). I went back a couple of weeks later and bought a stand and sostenuto pedal. I play in a Baroque duo with a flutist and we are getting some gigs locally, in the process of making a demo tape, and hope to get more work. We're having a lot of fun! I especially like the harpsichord effect which is, of course, classic Baroque. The only thing I really miss is the full length keyboard and when I upgrade, it will be for that specific feature.

This keyboard is a real killer, except that it doesn't have full 16 channel MIDI support. Otherwise, a great performance keyboard! I recommend this for people that wish to play music that sounds acoustic!
