the_sleeper a hobbyist user from USA writes:
From my experience with equipment, it seems like all the manufacturers are trying to make sure they can offer the same features as the next guy. This is not true of the homies in Sweden, elektron. I have to say that I think it's the best application of the sid chip so far. Interface? I am in love. It's extremely comforting. I haven't even had this thing for a month and I can program it in my sleep, that's not to say it isn't deeply robust. The wavetable editor is a dream come true, I have written dozens of patches already that can make up entire compositions by themselves. The 3 independant oscilators are like having 3 mono synths. 90% of the perameters can be exlusive to the oscilator and the knobs can be assigned to activate or disable an oscilator live, as well as almost all of the other perameters. Almost all of the perameters are controllable via midi, actually my only complaint is that the wavetable speed cannot be assigned to a knob, but it can sync to a midi clock. Not that big a deal. I must say however, the sounds this thing produces are not easily integrated into a mix of formulated crap, this thing is strictly for the OG of tomarrow. Persoanlly I think the sound is 100% right on target. I can't think of a better sound than an orgasmic lazer pulse of 1982 arpeggiated madness. It's enough to bring a man to tears......

Thank you elektron for putting forth an effort to reverse the demise music has fallen into.

WOW! i just got this and i am in love! sooo user friendly....sooo many different sounds...soo much noise ;-) the only pitfall of this synth, if you want to call it that, is the noise...but other then that...it is amazing! definately unlike anything ive ever heard. when i can afford another one, im definately gettin another. and probably more :-) definately not for your everyday dance producer though....but thats the beauty of it. gabber anyone?

Three cheers for being able to process external signals with the bizarre filters on this beast!

And three more cheers for the freeking SID chip itself, which is digital in all the right ways. (Not like the DX7, which was digital in many of the wrong ways). The sidstation doesn't want to sound like anything else... it just IS!

And now that the lfo syncs to midi clock, it's a dream come true...

Very fun and very complex. Unbelievable sounds, which makes old songs sound better and more "one-of-a-kind". Pherhaps Ill buy one more.

edwin jamison a hobbyist user from usa writes:
the sidstation is excellent. extremelly unique sounds... it doesn't just sound like video game sounds, it IS video game sounds. surprisingly full sounds. pwm is great, syncable lfo's, sync just about any modulations to midi clock. filtering external audio can also get pretty interesting.

very good for unconventinal drum sounds. utilization of the Table function at high speeds can produce excellent percussion, especially when coupled with the inverted ramp lfo. nice if you have a sampler.

amazing synthesizer.
