The SID Station is fun. Plain and simple fun. Yeah its noisy, and yeah it crashes alot, but its just plain fun to make C-64 sounds. The menu system is easy and makes editing sounds fast and simple. It looks rad and sounds radder. Lots of sounds are possible, just have a listen to the presets, or any of your favoirte old C-64 games. Basses, leads, pads, and weird stuff thanks to the table system of building sounds are all possible. But theyre not the basses leads and pads that youre used to. No these are definitely different. If you want to invade the scene with your laser gun phazing out the crowd, lay down a 16 year old sonic thunder-bass, or bring your listeners back to the 8-bit dimension, get one of these. remember, they can only make so many, once the chips are gone, theyre gone!!! Later ~Steve

=M-C-lOVE= a professional user from USA writes:
I have the SidStation and I think it is a phenomenal machine. It sounds unlike any other synth I have ever heard. It has totally bizarre sounds yet still manages to sound different depending on who programs the sounds.

Version .7 gave a taste and version .8 is upping the ante with better midi control and understanding of modulation wheels, etc.

There is nothing typical about this machine. While all the others are mimicking and copying each other, this one stands on its own. It can never be replaced by anything "better", like other synths ... It is what it is and can give your songs an added dimension of sounds ... Sounds unlike anything ever made before, except on the old Commodore 64 machines.

I highly recommend this to anyone as a "secondary" synth. Have another synth for your backbone of sounds - drums, generic synth sounds, etc. and then add the SidStation for truely unique sounds.

Minor correction: waveforms are saw, triangle, pulse with PWM (thus with square at PWM=128), mix and noise. Still lovely, though.
