I don't know much about music production, but I do know that the Machinedrum is a awsome piece of gear, I am still a newbie at midi but the machinedrum together with my nord micro are very easy to use. To all you newbies like me, if your serious about your music get some quality gear like the machinedrum you won't be sorry, pro features and extremly easy to find your way around it you will be making beats in no time. I give it a 5 out of 5 for being so damn user friendly

I would disagree with Sterile and say it is excellent for live use. It is the heart of my part of our llive setup. Once you know your way around it, its really quick to get to the mute screen and each new realase of the OS has more hot Keys to get to things quicker. I even use it to sequence stabs and Arps on my Virus B!

The sound can earth-shaking to delicate to crunchy to smooth. This is _the_ Techno machine. I've even been able to get weird distorted robot voices out of it.

A couple of things, if anyone from elektron is reading: 1) the SRR should come BEFORE EQ in the signal chain 2) The LFOs seem to be Just a bit off from sync sometimes (even with newest OS) 3) More machines!! Especially versatile ones like the GND machines.

All in all great, great, great machine. Its no wonder swedish techno is so good.. Must be something in the water.
