I've had mine since 1977. Love every minute I use it. Ditto on all previous comments. The sounds are great. Back in those days (and today)you could/can get it to sound like an ARP, Moog or an Oberheim. Really versatile sounds. Great effects when you run a mike or guitar through it. The most unique sounds come from friends who don't have a clue about the matrix programing etc.

well , i have one of these and i traded it for a Yamaha PSR-580 . The guy later found out that he was an idiot when he learned that he just traded a 3,500$ synth for a 99 cent store keyboard reject. Lol.....now he wont he even talk to me and tells my friends that I forced him to trade it. YOU DUMMY!
Anyways, it came with the Cricklewood keyboard but no connecting cord. Someone said that I could just plug the keyboard DIRECTLY into the back of the Putney. That is weird but I will have to try it. It is in MINT MINT MINT condition and I LOVE IT. It is so so weird.
I have a catalogue called "THE WHOLE EARTH CATALOGUE" and is from the early 70's . They have the VCS for sale in there along with a review by none other than Mr.Walter Carlos. (could have been Wendy but Im not sure). Anyways, Walter totally BAGGED on the Putney saying that the sounds just arent that good. You've got to find that article it is funny.
Well, I am off to play with the Putney.
YAY !!!!

Very easy to use after you figured out the matrix, lush pads, sharp strings, bleeps and pongs. You name it,you can create it.Exceptionally warm- esp.the mk11.Spring reverb is nasty, feeds back on itself to create a wash of angelic noise. The Vernier pots are great, but when they wear out there is no fixing them, the internals are like clockwork. Excellent hand crafted electronics on the inside, make the putney a peice of art in its own right...

Not very temperature stable (requires frequent tuning for standard instrument voicings) but great for noises! I had two at one point and hooking the two together increased the possibilities greatly. Some very bizarre sounds emanated from my setup.
