Very clear sound-much more natural sounding than AKAIs (though many like the AKAI sound). The Zplane filters are excellent- particularly the High Pass with resonance and the phasers. The low pass are a bit weak thought (it aint a 303).
A very simple interface combined with a big display makes setting it up easy- Can accept 15 assignable controllers per MIDI channel giving it real live potential if combined with something like a peavy PC1600.
Effects are simple but work fine and save on external units-unfortunately thought the sampler and filters are multi-timbral the effects are not-but sounds can be processed and resampled with a bit of chorus/reverb added and the quality isnt degraded.
Probobaly the best sampler you can get, and with a good selection of sounds a pretty good digital synth
