Well I'd read all the reviews on this site about the orbit and thought that the people giving this machine a bad wrap were just being rude assholes. I bought one.....I guess I'm a rude asshole now. I hate it...I though perhaps it would have a better variety of sounds....I have better dance sounds on my K2vx. I'm sorry but i'm just not impressed. I'm selling this thing to someone who may be able to use it....Perhaps I will look into the planet phatt.........it has much better reviews...if anyone has one please e-mail me and tell me if you like it......thanks

the phatt machine is a good machine but it's better to resample some snds ( hihat snare percs..;) on MPC for exemple to used them on recording session i often use a S950 akai for all the hhat & a mpc because the sounds in the emu are toooo cleannnnn but all the synth are great

Good in a kind of jack knife way. Sounds are ok for the nondiscriminating souls. Polyphony sags a bit though - especially it the "beats" mode. Play with it enough and you'll get some interesting (albeit limited) stuff.

Worth the money? If you're looking for a quick dance oriented module thats easy to use (standard EMU UI) and want access to 16 channels of good to fair quality sounds - YES. But don't expect it to go much further. - Peace to all!

Excelent sounds and easy to use. The EIV filters are

fab for ripping frequecies

Lack of FX is a bit of a drag but so many synths

these days depend on the quality of the effect rather

than the quality of the sound itself, so when you

bypass the FX the sound thins out.

whereas this module sounds fat anyway before you

effect it.

new V2 version is good i.e. syncing the beats & LFO

to MIDI

Overall a realy good unit aimed at the dance market

I've only had mine for 3 days and I already love it. Andy
