I´m not a purist, not a very good piano player, I have no precise imagination of piano sound. I´m a composer and I use piano in rock songs. This thing is really, really warm sounding and sounds 1, 8 and 15 are awesome. Very warm sounding, and very inspiring. With this sounds I can create for hours. In my opinion much better than the piano sounds I heard in many keyboards. Cheers Stephan

Decent stereo piano. Awful if you try to use it as a mono unit. I got it to try to get more sustain and realism after my M1 piano began to sound a bit thin on ballads. My problem with this module is it doesn't really get brighter if you hit it harder, which to me is what helps you pop your head up out of the mix every now and then. Plus, as was indicated earlier, it really does die out a bit early. The organs & EPs are worthless. But to free up voices from some of your other synths, you can't beat the price.

I really can't play piano parts with this rack. Fast decay, sustain pedal seems to be not working good with notes and, worst thing, notes from the octave or so starting at around C above middle C has a fairly artificial sound to it, almost electronic, as if some of the attack were missing (maybe just a casuality of mono).

I agree 100% with Ludovic. there isn't anything wrong with the box, these units just have really short completely unrealistically truncated samples. They made up for having a very small sample memory by shortening the samples and other than having an ice attack there is no long lasting piano tone in this box.
Useless for anything other than elton john pop tinkering or ultra fast jazz parts. the sustain pedal works but like he said, the notes don't sustain long enough for it to even matter. mine doesn't have any problems with the rotary knobs and works 100%, and mine isn't a + it's just the version 1, but it's just not that good.
my kurzweil 1000px BLOWS it away for piano sounds and throws in several amazing quality orchestral instrument samples as well. How did e-mu screw this up so badly? they make such great gear like the proteus and orbit series, I just don't know how they made a dedicated piano sample box that misses one of the most vital parts of playing the piano, the sustained TONE.
that being said, for cheap, it's still way better than what comes in most synthesizers, so I'll give it a 3.

Can someone answer specifically whether the Proformance 1+ has anything other than additional sounds. I read an ad on e-bay that claimed the Pro/1+ had "re-sampled" / "updated" acoustic piano sounds. I'd appreciate any help on this matter as I am buying a couple.
