This is a cool synth. Really good production sounds in this module superb for RnB and hip hop.

I like the sounds better than the XV3080 Roland are so GM compared to EMU

I think the command stations (xl-7,mp-7,px-7) are way cooler than this. I have owned the P2500 and the Xl-7 and Px-7 and there is really no comparison. The P2500 is not as fun to use without the key pads like the xx-7 models have. The P2500 is too bulky....4 rack spaces shot. I replaced mine with 4 vintage pros that i control with PX-7 and launchpad. Now I can hold 4 times the ROM cards in the same amount of space. Also, a minor point, but important if your hands are big and clunky like mine.....getting a ROM in the P2500 slot is ergonomically difficult at least compared to putting one in my Vintage Pros and my PX-7. If you hands are small, then it wont matter, but mine dont fit into the well of the body that nicely and so replacing roms is harder.

A great sounding unit with some nice touches that give you a feeling of hands-on control - very cool.

The sounds are rich and full, and can be expanded with some very high quality upgrades which I shall be investing in. Soundwise I am very pleased indeed. Thanks Emu.

However, this item is built very cheaply. The case is made of quite thin metal and it is very lightweight and insubstantial comapred to similar equipment from Roland and Yamaha. I have gigged it a little and it has already suffered very badly from a couple of very modest knocks, one of which resulted in about 10 of the numerous LED lenses to drop out (they are not glued in place - simply held in by the rigidity of the case structure).

For an item that has an onboard sequencer designed for live use this is pretty unforgivable, especially at the price point this was originally introduced at.

If you plan to run one live, case it up, and be very careful with, and it will reward you with some amazing live sounds. 4 for sound - 2 for build.

Be SURE to upgrade this puppy to OS 2.0 and there are literally NO BUGS. Its seamless and runs like a champ. Ive had mine for a while now and just love it. Also you will want to load up on your favorite roms asap. Incredible machine. Way beyond roland and yamaha stuff. I love it and use it extensively.

forgot to mention that having the 16 knobs to work with as opposed to only 4 on the rack modules like the Virtuoso and Vintage Pro is really a godsend to say the least. tweekers heaven!!!!
