I dig this machine......... It truley is the most fun of all Drum machines. I have had over 2 dozen drum machines and never could get myself to fork out over a grand of $$$$ for a 10 sec. sampler. But after years of trial & error, buying & selling, I finally purchased one.......It is very intuitive and gritty of all drum machines. I brake it down like this.....Akai MPC.....complicated but good sequencer/midi controller. Emu SP1200 simple & FUNKTIONAL.
Respect your SP1200. Keep it away from Smoke, Dust. Also come over to our SP1200 User Group post messages & pics of you beloved SP1200 at its Home or Studio enviroment. No gay fotos like the other SP-1200. It is a real shame that no one moderates that site.

Ok.. i have an SP 1200 but I never actually used it. Only heard the fruits of the machine thru the producers that come thru my studio. First and foremost, the sp 1200 hasa compressor so the samples sound more in your face. I tried using a free plugin on the PC (mda Degrade) with the followin settings that match the sp1200 (22,500 hz 12 bit and toyed with the other settings) and when I use that with the PSP vintage warmer..man o man. there is something about the 12bit sound that cuts thru and makes the drums much doper when compressed. I really dont know the science behind it but i do know that everyone without an sp 1200 should try using the mda degrade plugin along with hte vintage warmer (toy with the drive about 4, and play with the low/hi cut/gain knobs). you will be a believer

The SP1200. Will never ever sell it. There is nothing that sounds like this. When the new SP2400 is out I will buy it but keep my 1200! I'm glad that Emu has been listening to our requests, so you can choose between 24 bit and 12 bit sampling. An all time classic the SP1200, the 2400 will be the next.

There is no better machine for chopping up the beat...period!!! Anyone can take a 7 second loop, but few can make it their own and give it that signature sound. The SP 1200 tests the bounds of what a "true" producer can do with 10 seconds. Still the best!!! 5-out-of-5
