for get the mc 909 and get the mp7

I purchased a XL7 with the MOPHAT rom 6 month ago;it's the best synth i bought in my life for programming sounds..It's for me the best alternative for analog and electro sound,because more versatile than a virtual analog synth...in the future i'll buy the world rom and(maybe)the beat garden rom and i'll have a killer..and i'm not impressed by NOVA,ACCESS,CLAVIA,etc in comparaison,even if these are very good synths.And the XL have knobs too!!!I use them to control a MOTIF6... In conclusion,this box has one of the best(AND VERY DYNAMIC!!!)synth sound of the market for me!!!(and surely the best rythmbox sound..no concurrence now) THE PROBLEM: I don't like the sequencer.I always use the MOTIF sequencer to compose with..but it's just a personnal opinion!My dream:the XL7sounds and knobs whit the MC909 lcd and menus for editing and sequencing...and a smartmedia storage!

i own 1 and love it!. imagine a Roland JV-1080 setup (64note/4 layers/card expan).....but inside a BOX with seq/pads and ZPLANE filers! now imagine owning or borrowing someones E4/E5 and using RECYCLE or WAVSURGEON to build your sounds then burn them to your OWN ROMS!!. think about it. is anyone even considering this? HELLO!!!!
up to 32meg ROMS!!! even SOUNDING BETTER than the ones EMU are selling, not to mention your setups and samples.

I didn't learn anything between my posts, just clarified. If a particular rom available from E-mu *has* beats on it, then whether you will be able to access those beats depends on whether the unit you are using, (i.e. a P2000 or an XL7, etc) has the latest O.S. installed or not. If there are some ROMs that do not have beats on them, then it doesn't matter what O.S. there is because there are no beats to be had. Get it?
As far as your setup goes, consider selling the XL1 and the other box you have and then just purchasing the ROMS you want and place them into the MP7. There is room for 3 extra ROMs in addition to the MoPhatt ROM that is already in the MP7. The Orbit3 is just both of the Rob Papen ROMs in one box (Beat Garden and Techno Synth Construction Yard) you can which whichever one you want, or both and put them in the XL7 or MP7.

The advice given to you on the XL7 list is correct. Perhaps you misunderstood: Every ROM in every E-mu unit, whether it is the P2000, the XL1, the Mo'phatt, the XL7, the MP7 or the new keyboards is EXACTLY the same ROM! That is, E-mu makes just ONE Xtreme Lead Rom, one MO' Phat ROM, etc, etc, etc! The reason you are experiencing differences in the music shops is that most shops don't have the latest O.S. loaded in the floor models. Did you check the o.s. in every machine you demo-ed? Do you know what the latest O.S.'s are? This information is all readily available on the E-mu site. Have you bothered to check there or ask them??
For example. The XL1 always had beats mode, but if you popped an XL1 ROM into a P2000 way back when, there was no beats UNTIL they came up with an O.S. update: now there is beats. The same goes with the Command Stations where only the latest o.s. 1.31 recognized and implements the beats THAT HAVE BEEN IN THE ROMS FOR 2 YEARS SINCE THE XL1 and MO-PHAT.
So listen to the XL7 list now and believe it later: 1. The beats are inside the ROMS. 2. All the ROMS are the same from machine to machine. 3. Only the correct O.S. for each machine will allow the machine to access the Beats inside the ROMS--many old O.S.'s won't. 4. Do not listen to music store dudes--if you want to really know, ask E-mu: AND E-mu monitors and responds on the XL7 yahoogroups list.
So go back there and re-read the posts to your questions again and when you have figured it out, go buy one and post a real review here.
