just heard the electribe mx demo on the fm mag cd...very nice big sound...the problem is, according to fm, that you can't filter the drums much (but, they certainly sound fine as-is)...now, filtering drums is no problem with the command stations...in fact, the filters on the command stations can completely transform the drum sounds...now, need to a-b a mx with a px-7...may need both...as for the xl-7, it seems to me that the way to go now is a px-7 with the beat garden, xl-1, and (one other--pure phatt?) sound cards...i have a halo, xl-1, planet earth, and a planet phatt (obsolete)...all of this can be collapsed into just a halo and px-7...

This machine is way better that it looks. You can do allmost everything on this thing and not ever push the stop botton.E-MU is my favorite copmany from now on.Screw the japan, americans do it the best.Three os upgrades in about one year and the incentive came from the yahoo user group.Talking about good costumer support.E-MU makes stuff for people and not for the market.

for what this unit cost you simply cannot buy a better sound module/sequencer. The live capibilities are spectacular. The tones are unique. usb,six audio outs, pads, new 2.0 software now has 64,32 quantizing. just a beautiful machine. Yes it is not as refined as a korg triton are a yamaha motif. But is a wavestation or a moog technically refined? not technically but still inspiring. there is a definite beauty to this machine. And I love mine!!

This thing is off the HOOK!!!!!!!!!. It sounds good and it sequences better. Also being able to add up to 3 more sound roms makes it that much of a monster. AND YES you can record 32nd notes in grid mode. The new O.S brings alot of power to this machine. When they first came out I was like "Nah, I'm not messing with any corny Yellow or Purple box.." But after messing around with it this thing has become my secret weapon. The pads feel like an MPC, Grid mode makes it feel like an TR-808 or TR-909. There is too much on this machine that I still have to learn. Even if you don't like the sounds or plan to use it as a sequencer it is still a real CRAZY Midi Controller. Almost every button and knob(16 of them) can be used as a controller. Excellent for using with Reason, Rebirth, Fruity Loops, Cubase etc... I like to sit it on my lap with some headphones and crank out beats before bed. It's quick and thats whats important. Turn it on and start laying down your music, NO BULLSH%T. Just straight up beats.....
