The E2 is a classic, just as the Prophet 5 is in synthesizer circles.
Truncation is tricky but certainly not bad.
I have created seamless loops and very solid drumsounds for this beast.
I'm used to S1000 to S5000 samplers from Akai, but this oldie certaily will be used soon.
The Latin set original from E-MU is a highly useable set of drumsounds.
It is unbelieveable that this thing records audio so well and so "fat", i don't hear BIT's here, just pure rock and roll.....
The filters are fabulous!

Man these are great,i cannot belive that someone has said these are crap for drums they are brilliant for drums you just have to know how to use them.If you want killer gritty drums and sounds in your mix then get one of these beasts because you cannot beat all the noise dirt and grime that real electronics creates instead of watered down bland sounding computer software plugins and synths,get a real machine in on the act and then realise why people who have a good sound use analog and old samplers.eII is awesome and these will cost a fortune soon.

My favorite sampler 'cause it adds EMU's 8-bit distortion to any sample and the analog filters are great! It's also reasonably easy to use and there are still hundreds of samples available on the 5 1/4" floppies from NorthStar. I would not recommend this machine for someone looking for pristine sound and dead on authentic samples. Get a K2600 or Motif for that. But this is the king for grunge! Especially great for Wurlitzer 200 EP and D6 Clavinet, very organic.
I am looking for a second machine if anyone has one for sale. Want to midi them up, run identical patches and mix them together!

I owned a EII + for lots of years but sold it to purchase an ensoniq asr10.
Good points Analog filters, easy to use , nice modulation options, good bassy sound, classic library.
Bad Points Weak discdrives (need calibration now and then, well i had 2 drives in the +) Second memory bank (in + model) not shareable with bank A, Bad sluggish midi response, not a good sampler for drums for 2 reasons ,1 delta sigma conversion on the EII squeezes drums and makes them narrow sounding, 2 The worst parameter resolution on any sampler! start points increments are far to coarse, so no thight drums at any chance. With mac soundisigner and a rs232 things improve.
Crashy sequencer, keyboard contacts are weak.
SO on balance the EII is a bit of a dinosaur, its only good points are its library and analog filters. For the rest its best left in the past. I never regretted my switch to ASR10 (far warmer sound and very good for drums).
A no buy nowadays i guess.
