I bought this unit for about $400 and never looked back. The sounds are very cool Too many organs but overall the thing really rocks. I love the heavy electronic sound of swells and the clocks. I love the extra outs this makes this machine well worth the jack I used to cop this machine.....

I have the VK upgraded to the Plus (more RAM presets, more waveforms and samples).

I love it; I can't afford the time or money for vintage synths, organs, and EP's, and this provides them all in a sequencer-friendly format. Sure, they're not perfect, but they're not bad, and it has a wide variety of funky samples to boot.

I also bought the optional preset disks from Emu when I was home in Santa Cruz (man, I miss that place!). They're supposed to be $29.95 apiece, but I got them for $60 or $70 total. I would recommend them if you're lazy or pressed for time, but they're not essential. You can learn some tricks from some of the more interesting patches.

I heartily recommend this module!

After trying during several years to reproduce or sample Mellotron voices and strings in good conditions, it was a real discovery for me to hear this instrument !

The first listening was impressive.

Especially the organ and the moogs, but in some occasions they can sound

"silly".

The display is too small so it's hard and boring to work with it.

But when you get in to it, you can do really great sounds.

As always the acoustic sounds are bad, but remember this is a VINTAGE KEY.

It's a good module for live performances.
