Anthony Bennett a hobbyist user from usa writes:
It's me again with some great news about the Ensoniq MR rack. This rack is "da bomb". Only had it for a little while and it's not hard to figure out. I got mine with no manual but it's pretty straight forward. It has some incredible sounds that can't be beat. I've got it hooked up to a Roland XP10, Yamaha TG300, and a Korg X5DR. I have a total band right there at my fingertips. It's works so well with my system that I've put my Kuzweil PX1000 to bed. I thought the Korg Triton was the best out and maybe so by itself, but for the full band, get this. It's a FIVE anyway you work it. This will probably be the last unit I buy for a long long time.

Great machine. Bought it in 2000 and I still use it today. The strings section sounds used in layer with a piano master are still the best you can find in the market today in my opinion. Same thing for pads like EVOLUTION, HI-TECH BED ecc. The piano expansion also contains some killer Rhodes sounds with that "analog" feel not so easy to find on Japanese gear. Very raccomanded I think for NU SOUL/R'N'B producers/arrangers. For the swedish guy, if you're still looking for a new 1, they have a still NEW 1 (never sold I think) in a store in Parma (Italy) called Davoli.

örjan a professional user from sweden writes:
The mr-rack is the best synth I've owned so far. Sounds are dynamic, in a way that no other synth is capable of, especially played through a large PA-system. Amazingly great piano (and all the rest too). Wish I had the piano expansion, but these days you can't even get contact with ensoniq? In Sweden - seems hopeless anyway. Compared the sound today with a Yamaha Motif 88-key. Surpasses this by far.

Now my MR is flipping out. It was never any good at midi response, and the 64 voices was never available, perhaps I have a bad ex., don't know. The system doesn't work today, don't know what to do. Get a new one, I guess, but I will really try the polyphony out then.

This unit is sensitive to magnetic fields. No synth I've owned reacts this way to light-equipment (dimmers etc.) on stage, which is a trouble in professional environments.

I purchased this module for $250(NZ) What a great sounding synth has a brighter display and equal in sound quality to my Proteus 2000 Unable to source pcm or expansion boards .
