I traded my Juno 2 for a "then new" Mirage back in '87. 16 years later, its still in my rig and used often. One day, in '97 an angry girlfriend literally beat the shit out of it. Two broken keys, a dented top cover and a power cord that pulled a Houdini and vanished! I had a 100+ disc library I spent 10 years on.....gone, or so I thought. Thinking it was dead I moved onto other synths. But one day I decided to pull it out of the garage(I found a power cord in a friends garage) I wiped it off, plugged it in and to my shock listened to that little hum from the disc drive boot a disc! I never got the keys fixed as I always Midied it to whatever my master board was at the time. Currently a Korg Triton, but it still works awesome! Love those analog filters! My Mirage is older than my 13 year old daughter, its been through hell and back and I will play it until it goes to the keyboard afterworld!

Lonnie Moore a part-time user from USA writes:
I bought my first Mirage in 1986 along with an ESQ-1.I used to edit samples with the Mirage Visual Editing Package on my Commodre 64. Grant it sampling is hard and if you're looking for about any sound it's usually out there somewhere.I have a Mirage DSK, a rack mount, esq-1,sq-80,and a VFX-sd.I play 3 out of every 4 weekends all year, and the keyboard I grab the most to use is my mirage. The best sounds are the pianos, fender rhodes, and strings are killer. The only part to wear out is the disk drive.Be sure to have a couple set's up backups for al;l your disks, as they do wear out. I feel Ensoniq could have spent a few more dollars and made it much more user friendly.

Stan a professional user from USA writes:
Totally useless old pile of junk, one up from a casio sk1. In fact, its one down from the casio because that's easy to use. No sampling time, desperately difficult to get your head round, impossible without the manual and not really worth trying. I had trouble giving one away recently. No one wanted it for free. The samples are not cool and it is not an analogue. Let no one convince you that these are worth having. They're not. Any sampler can create grainy sounds if you turn the sample rate down. Mine's being used by a high school kid as a master keyboard and its trouble being that. If time has been unkind to some keyboards, it has been brutal to this one! classic? i don't think so.
