Seriously kick ass. I'll never get rid of mine. One of the most versatile synths ever built. Got mine used and will never get rid of it. Seriously cool!!

just got this about oh 6 mo's ago. I love what I can do with it so far. More Grits than the South! However, my manual asks me to use SS/DD disks. I think I may find every missing sock I've ever lost before I find these damn disks.

Even more confusing, a friend of mine who has a Mirage uses DS/DD Disks and told me that I may have gotten one of the "older models". What the hell is this guy talkin' about?

Can I get the disks I need from Syntaur? or somewhere else?

I sold my Mirage in '94 for $50 to a friend when I bought my Emax 2. I thought the world was now perfect with 16 bit stereo sampling. Only later I realized I was missing that 'sound' I would here in my old demos. I'd kill to get that sampler back. I've got a big knife... Get your Mirage while its cheap. Its a classic about to happen.

Jojo Hohoko a part-timer user from Neptune's 7th province writes:
The Mirage is soooo amazing. Built in sequencer. One of the few (only?) samplers that has TRUE analog filters. It has the ability to warp and trip out even the dullest sounds. The OS is a bit less user-friendly than modern samplers, but oncew you get passed it, it's simple to tweak anything to hell. Cross-fade, multisampling, reverse, flip, etc. Uses 720KB DS/DD 3.5" floppy disks instead of the modern 1.44mb DS/HD 3.5" disks though. There is software available for free on the net that allows you to read + write mirage disks on your PC thus allowing you to exchange sounds with other users via email easily. The thing that baffles me is the fact that these are going for sub $200 prices all over the net and usually include tons of sound disks, yet people are still shelling out hundreds for crappy phrase samplers. The Mirage is a friggin powerful beast!!!

Eric T a hobbyist user from USA writes:
I've had my Mirage for 7 years and I dig the feel of playing mine the most. There IS a 'local off' and I use it primarily as a controller for my rack 'o toys. Occasionally I will pop in a floppy and flex my hex knowledge and tweak some of my old samples. I have some samples from an old Moog that are great piano pads - and some really good organ sounds that I created from very non organ sources. You gotta love the steel case - 2 oscillators per voice and the mod wheel that sticks where you put it!! I think they built it knowing that in 6 months it would be out done so they actually built the keys and the case to last on - and for that I am thankful.
