Todd Franklin a part-timer user from USA writes:
I purchased the MR-61 in 1996. It now functions as the heart of my (admittedly modest) production studio. I sold the Ensoniq TS-10 to help finance the purchase, and have not regretted that decision for a minute.

I have since expanded my MR by adding the EXP-3 Urban Dance Project expansion board (incredible waves/sounds), as well as the MR-Flash board (for reading WAV/AIFF samples). I have had no problems with its sequencer (16 tracks, 384 ppq!), and I still have not completely explored its vast sound library. In short, it's been ideal for any type of music I have desired to create (Soul/R&B, Dance, Pop). Between its expansion capabilities and sound quality, the MR more than holds its own in the synth market, even compared to higher-priced synthesizers.

I agree with Mr. Nash -- it is unfortunate that Ensoniq elected to discontinue further development for this synth. Still, for the money, it was a solid purchase. One piece of advice: if you decide to purchase this synth, be sure to upgrade its OS to the latest version (2.11, as of the time I am writing this - 2/20/99).

Yann-il, Sable a professional user from South Korea writes:
It's such a cool machine for rock musicians or keyboardists. But, there's some faults of tones I found are; some of tones are clap than other tones and other produced equips - example for Fuller B3, organ tones, strings, etc... If these tones're edited or advanced, ENSONIQ MR series are better work-station than other high-priced machines. Anyway, tone of overdriven guitar sound was very fantastic!!! This machine is really useful for musicians want powerful sounds. I'd expect new ZR Series for better sounds.

George Nash Jr a professional user from USA writes:
Hey! I love this board. Having owned a EPSRack, EPS16+ Rack, ASR10 Rack this

fit right in with my other gear. I brought the MR61 instead of the rack this time.

I'm currently working on Eric Benet's next album on Warner Brothers Records.

Also you here us on the Batman and Robin Soundtrack. The MR61 is a great writing board

for coming up with ideas. Also the Urban Expansion Card is the bomb!!!

The only thing I wish is that they would have continued development on the board

with the expansion for samples. I hear unfortunately they canceled the board.

Otherwise I still give it a high ranking.

Colene Ninneman a part time user from USA writes:
I was incredibly impressed with how user friendly the keyboard was. I have

never had such an awesome time laying down tracks. My only disappointment

was in the piano sounds. My first love for all out piano and electric piano

sounds are from Roland. Please let me know if we can ever purchase a sound card

with better piano sounds.
