Have a look at the ESQ-1 manual downloadable from here: should cover most of the SQ-80 functions.

Note: The Track buttons have multiple pages, keep pressing the same button to select between program numbers, presets, mix levels etc

Great synth, but I just can't figure out how to use the sequencer. I don't have the manual, and I'm sure it will help, but any help would be great.

had this thing for over a year now and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon/ it has the most awesome and easy sequencer i have ever used! it always holds its place right in the middle of my equipment and i wouldnt think of selling it now. the sounds it can produce always cut through into your face in any mix. makes really good analog sounding pads and leads as well as bass sounds. if you are thinking about buying one my suggestion is buy it and you wont be sorry. even if you arent really into the sounds it can produce, the sequencer and keyboard are worth the money. anyway.. i have had it for a year and have only scratched the surface on what it can do so we will see in a few years what it is really capable of..peace

I bought my sq-80 in 1988. I have had no reason to consider another keyboard since. Having the ability to track multiple voices which I design is truly exciting to me still. The stereo effects I have been able to create make me the envy of other musicians I know.

I want to slave it to my macintosh. Anyone have any suggestions about software?

The Ensoniq SQ-80 has been my main keyboard since I bought it in 1989. The sequencer is so easy to use, I use it rather than use an Ensoniq ASR-10 sampler with built-in sampler. The keyboard has light plastic keys that are just the kind I WANT. I play really fast sequences, and light-weight keys are the way to go for this. Those fully loaded heavy keys are not good for fast action.

I love this synth so much, I have bought newer synths and taken them back to the store. After you've played an SQ-80, everything else is just too many menus and knobs. The SQ-80 is a dream to play. I use it as a controller for everything else, and the onboard sequencer can't be beat. OK, well I wish it had more memory, but that's ok. If anybody close to Cincinnati, Ohio has one of these to sell, please let me know. I'd like to pick up an extra one.
