If you really love sound and synthesis then this is it! I love this more than my Moogs or Rolands. I use it in expermental trance and also for sound effects.

I bought my sq-80 in 1989 brand new. Since that time it has been used and abused through 3 Cds and 3 world tours with Nocturnus. It was the only synth I used for "The Key" Cd, recorded on Earache records. I used programmed sequences live on stage for both intors and as strange effects breaks inside songs (mainly a time machine sequence). Since then it has been my central workstation used to drive the more realistic Roland sounds I use currently. I had it serviced twice and I have to say that almost 10 years later it carried me through an incredible musical journey. Too bad they don't offer endorsements at ensoniq :-( Louis Panzer

I have had this synth as my master keyboard for about 5 years and what makes me keep it is the flexible sequencer (8 track) and how you can use this for pseudo-8 zone control. The worst thing about it is the clackety-clack sound of the keyboard. It drives my girlfriend crazy when I play with headphones - all she can hear is clickety-clack-tap-tap etc.
