I FINALLY GOT MY HANDS ON THIS BOARD!! IM A FANATIC OF VINTAGE INSTRUMENTS JUST BECAUSE OF THE SOUND PRODUCED.I PURCHASED MINES FOR $100 AND BELIEVE ME IT WAS THE BEST BENJI SPENT..ITS BEEN A WEEK AND ITS SIMPLICITY IS AMAZING. THE MIXER OPTION IS GREAT! THE SEQUENCER IS LOVELY,IT MAKES THE PERFECT MARRIAGE WITH MY TRUSTY SP1200! I RECOMEND THIS MACHINE TO THOSE WHO PRODUCE HIP-HOP MUSIC,THE ONLY THING MISSING IS A SAMPLER BUT PUT YOUR SELF TO THE TEST AND CHECK YOUR CREATIVITY...... *********PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU GOT ACCESS TO SLOT SOUND CARDS FOR THE ESQ-1.ALSO THIS INTERNAL BATTERY? I NEED ONE SOON... THANKS

I posted a link here for the ESQ 1. It appears the Guys at Keyboard Magazine are paying howage to the ESQ 1 this month. Check out the linkand the sample audio. As for my own. Well mine is great. The only thing wrong with mine is that right now I have a bad key zone. However thanks to the people on Buchty sq 80 forum I am going to take a stab at what may be nothing more than a loose ribbon cable this weekend. Other than that well this keyboard was my first 'serious' keyboard (ie. no built in speakers). It was also my first non computer sequencer. For what I got it for used in 96 I found it to be perfect for everything I needed at the time. Well now my needs have expanded but so has my gear inventory. Despite all that my ensoniq has stayed a key player in my setup. I find it has a strong lead to work with and some real growl to it's sounds. Plus it's sequencer allows me to make quick small patterns to over lay with my rm1x. I use it almost like a multitibral elctribe without knobs in that way. I have been pondering the notion of using the rm1x knobs to realtime tweak the esq1 filter so that may be my next adventure with this. Anyway she is great keyboard that from beginner to expert has a place. Especially at the price they go for now and well with guys like www.buchty whatever the rest is reverse engineering and dedicating alot of time to this beast and her sq-80 sister beast.
One last thing about this and also in the defense of my other synth the Kawai K1. I find that I create much more unique textures with these keys one because of the vintage and 2 because of all the new crap the rich kids and the superstars buy up. All those people out there who wonder why NIN's first album was so great yet the latters seemed to be uh. Because all he could afford back then was the garage sale stuff. Really I shouldn't harp on trent that way but I always found a better bite in the earlier work. Anyway my Kawai K1 is a hated keyboard for everything but pads. Well I'll tell you dive into it and you can find wonders just like the esq1. I try to get my gear based on having plenty to explore in the capabilities. Like a book with no end. Oh well rambling now my 2 cents.

Had mine for 2 years. I will never sell it. I also have about a dozen cool RAM cards for it and the sequencer expander as well. This puppy stays in my set-up. Its just too cool. Nothing else sounds quite like it. Get one before they become scarce. I believe there was only 40 or 50,000 made. Four pole analogue filters cook. Lots of pros still use em on stage and in studio. You cant go wrong with the ESQ-1 in your mix here and there.

After selling off a Korg 707 to raise money for one of these puppys used, I was quite glad I did. After all these years, am still learning new things about it left and right. I had been using it in my work in arcade and home game music composition and design. The feel of the keys is simply inspiring. And then to find out more information along the years that I have a true hot rod of a keyboard in my hands, VERY yummy! On the side note, got a second one as a freebie, some output stage oscillation but the sounds are all there otherwise, working on fixing 'er up. Me happy...
