I got the sampler at goodwill fro like, 40 bucks and I had no idea what to do with it so I hooked it up to my deck and it seemed to function purely as a way to connect the turntable to speakers.

Now I finally know it's actual purpose.

DS 1224 HAS HELD ME DOWN FOR 8 YEARS. I LOOP DRUMS AND SAMPLES AND SEQUENCE THEM IN A DIGITAL RECORDER. ITS GOOD FOR THOSE WHO GET SICK OF THE DIGITAL WORLD. I'M LOOKING FOR ANOTHER USED ONE AS I SPEAK. HOLLA AT ME IF YOU WANT TO SELL ME YOURS. ROCK ON

i wanna clear something up real quick. the main reviewer said at the end of his review that there is a rackmountable version DS-1224R he called it.

it's actually called the DS-2024. but yea same features as the dj coffin version, but just a 1 space 19" rack mountable.

anyhow, i really like it. real quick and easy and grungy. and for the $62 i paid for mine brand new, its a steal.

it has a high fun factor, great for playing live, very inexpencive.. who cares it dont have any editing, there's 100 other samplers out there if thats what you wanna do.

seriously it's a yack back unit. it was my first sampler. I got it for 100 bucks at guitar center. It gets you used to basic sampling and looping. When I finally outgrew its intended capabilities I started sampling different parts of a record to each of the banks and using a graphic eq for chopping and filtering respectively (somewhat) not bad. making complete joint was frustrating so I just got an mpc-60, which I am learning in and out now. Doesn't sound good you say. sample drums into it and tell me they don't sound phat. no sample editing so do it the old fashioned way. record control!! I didn't get rid of it because I sample drums into the 60 edit them send them to the gemini and send them back to the 60. not the sp but gives them some dirt.
