Bought this keyboard in Jan 1997. One of the best arranger keyboards i had seen. However it has its own drawbacks which i will come to later.

The good things first. Ease of use: very simple and easy to navigate around without a manual. Building User Style was a key. Has quite a few different drum kits.

The built-in sequencer allowing to record upto 16 tracks at a time makes this all the more worth while.

Microscoping editing allows me to correct notes that has been incorrectly entered.

The sounds on the keyboard are not world class. The Piano sounds are fine, and pads and syn leads are minimal. The bass part are good. I have some external loadable sounds that needs to be loaded everytime the keyboard is turned on. I have added some RAM to enable the sound loading feature.

I also have Arabic sound kit which works great.

Drawbacks: I had the LCD display go bad on me. There was a point i could not see anything what was going on the screen. The Wheel which controls everything, tempo, velocity, volume (mixer) went bad, and the backup battery went dead after 9 years of operation.

The Good thing is, the GeneralMusic US support has been pretty good, and i got the replacement parts, and i got them fixed myself, which the exception of the LCD screen.

It is now as good as new.

I am using this arranger keyboard along with an external Sound module: Roland JV-1080 and i can play the Roland module in Multi-trimble mode, in other words Arranger mode.

I did try playing with the Korg PA-1X and i found it was much harder to navigate, than my WK4 keyboard.

For a good arranger, nothing comes close than WK4 or WK8.

Am I the only one who thinks the pianos and elec. piano tones really stink? I have a yamaha keyboard that didn't cost half the WK4 did and I think it has far better tone quality. I am very happy with everything else on the keyboard and am happy with Genaral Music in providing me with answers.

Overall, I am quite happy with the instrument although I have been disappointed with my responses from General music in the early days when I needed answers

Svein Jonland a part time user from norway writes:
The keyboard sounds very clear, all sounds stand out in the mix.

The possibilities are many.

I have experiensed some slow chord readings in the arranger.

I very much miss the possibility to read other brands styles. I wish for this in a future upgrade.

It is a very good synth but is very ugly.
