This is a great basic little analogue synth. You can achieve some fabulously fat bass sounds with it as well as general weirdness. Turn the octave up to max on a PWM waveform, add a little white noise, & some vibrato at speed 2 and hey presto : Mellotron. For the money this baby is very cool.

I've used a few synths - Korg MS20, Juno and SH101, but still find the SX1000 my favourite. It has a wonderfully intuitive design and captures the futuristic sound of the past better than anything else I've played.

I'm not a synth buff - I don't give a dman about the Kudos of instruments as collectable objects - I just trust my ears, and they still tell me that the Jen is great.

I found mine at a dusty old junk shop on the south side of chicago. I love the look and the sounds. It really is different sounding. My only problem is that the resonance pot is a bit noisy when moved. The old guy I got it from thought it was useless junk, so I traded a cheap old cassette deck for it. ha!

I've just acquired one of these beauties from a car boot sale for £25, which is a fantastic bargain considering the sounds that can be created. I love the LFO sweeping the filter and the PWM at the same time. I can understand that some people don't like it, but if everyone used Moogs and MS-20s then there wouldn't be any original sounds left.

Variety is the spice of life.
