Quite nice in the WYHIWYT (What You Hear Is What You Tweak) department. Got mine for $140 a couple of years ago but I really feel it's overpriced these days. Good pads/sweeps/bass sounds.

I've recorded it in the studio and used it live. I think those old synths are so much easier to deal with onstage than newer synths. You didn't have to have an engineering degree to make some sounds with the Juno 106. It produced good clear stereo sound and had some very nice effects. It didn't do any justice to any timbral intruments such the piano or guitar, but the string sounds kick most of my sampled strings to death. I like my 106.

The Juno 106 works very well in many typical settings where an analog sound is required (bass, pads, etc.). They stink if you don't know how to program a basic analog synth. One of the best sounding and most interestingly produced new records right now is Madonna's new CD (believe it or not), and I just read that the main synth on it was a 106. Yes, Virginia, it really does sound better than Acid Fran's ass.
