Erik Hines a part-time user from United States writes:
I found the juno 106 to be a very versatile instrument. First time synthesists might have trouble creating unique sounds, but with focused programming time, you will be able to create a wide variety of pads, leads, basses, and a lot of weirdness. the classic Rotterdam pwm synth, extreme sweeps, bubbly acid. The 60 has VCO's for a warmer texture, but i've found that in a modern studio I would sacrifice the warmth of the VCO for full idi implementation and oscillator stability. The juno 60 also has a built in arpeggiator, but with the invention of the computer came far superior arpeggiators, (ARPX-8), Don't let the analog purist fool you, if you are a knob teeker, and enjoy ADSR synthesis, this will make a welcome addition. I also reccommend looking toward the alpha juno series, a bit more versatile as long as you have the pg-300. both can be found relatively inexpensive, try e-bay, and dont pay more than $350 for a 106 in MINT, or $250 for a juno-2, the pg-300 is becoming a collectors item in it's own right, so buy it asap.

Stephane Schmitz a hobbyist user from Belgium writes:
This is the first analog synth I got and I love it so much! It's so easy to use and it may appear fairly limited at first sight but with a bit of tweaking and with the help of some external effects you can get some pretty good sounds out of it. I also have an AKAI AX-73 (analog synth with digital controls) but in my opinion the 106 is superior in every way. It has better sounds, easy editing (compared to the painful editing of the AX73), is a lot smaller and has a fairly good midi implementation. And what's more, I just got it for $100 (it's what I paid for the AX73 too!) here in belgium, a real bargain :) (yes, Im' lucky!). The only criticism I would make it that it's really overpriced in most places.

Some of the best strings i have ever heard i created on this machine.

I just bought one thats mint, has all the factory patches, and damn i don't think i will ever sell it. I mean its perfect: analog, sliders, midi, good looks, synthetic sounds. cant get much better. pure vibe. completely changed my aspect of synthesis. i dont know if i can stand to just "tweek" digital sounds anymore.

what can i say, im a new man

There is no way this thing is better than a Juno 106. As a matter of fact, it sounds quite lame next to one. I will never play a 106 again having purchased one of these.

3/5 because its cheap, easy to program and has midi. Otherwise, blah. Filter is ok for a dco.

Thanks.
