I bought a 1080 a couple of years ago (second hand) and have barely come to terms with it at all since then . Bought it purely because it was THE module and if you didn't have one what was wrong with you ??
To be quite honest , if i am looking for a sound or simply looking for inspiration , the JV is the last thing i would switch on . As so many people rave about this machine i am sure it is jam-packed with killer sounds and features but i'll be f####d if i can get them out of it. Tried reading the manual for a bit of guidance but usually asleep by page 4 or on the net looking for a "translate japanese to english and back again" web site . Hate to dis anything Roland as i own (and love) Juno 6 , Juno 106 , Alpha Juno 2 and the awesome SH101 but the 1080 leaves me a bit cold i'm afraid . Any advice would be gratefully accepted as i am sure i am not doing the thing justice but the interface is an obstacle between me and the sounds rather than being the warm and welcoming fascia of the Juno 6 (for example). Don't want to score this kit low as i'm sure it's great deep down but please tell me how to get in there .

Well il say this about the JV-1080 Its a nice bread n butter synth compared to whats out there today and for the price that there going for you just cant beat it . Roland was on a roll in the 90's , i think everybody in kingdom come had a D-50 our a JV somthin lol" the 1080 shines when pumped out with the SR-series exspansion boards , hell when you get through exspanding it ..you got a 5080 thats why there so easy to get now ebay been selling them like crazy but its a dam good module not better than my JD990 but it romps with the rest if you see one buy it while there cheap , The Jv series really made there mark .hell you cant beat it at 64 note polyphony and the old school stuff got less !!!

I have bought one JV1080 after hearing one in a school studio i set up. I have to say i think its the best! I know its not cutting edge technology, but, lets face it, neither is a Fender 57 Strat through a Marshall jtm 45... and they're pretty sought after! The sounds on the unit are excellent and the acoustic guitar samples are very convincing. I have used midi tracks instead of live playing for acoustic guitar and i'm very happy with the results. I think i will be using this unit in my studio for a long time; i'm not sure there is anything to better it for the money. Thank you Roland.

wicked wicked wicked, if you own a virus waldorf or you are generally analogued out of ya head, than purchase it if you see one cheap cos this is the missing link between normal and wierd.. ie it has commplimentary everyday sounds to pad out your analogue mix and you will realise that the robots won't be coming to get you as humans will dig too !!!!
