SOME SMARTASS WROTE: "Sorry I've had my head up a cow's ass all this time. Mine machine just broke for no reason and although the guy in a store says its only a minor fault it can't be fixed. Maybe the sounds are not that great after all. I know I am not going to buy another."
For the record: My jv2080 is working juste fine with no problems, and I am not inbittered towards Roland, but happy that they have made such a wonderful, fantastic, easy to use machine. Whoever wrote the above, and trying to pass themselves off as me have some serious issues that they don't want to deal with right now. So I forgive them. If you need help programming yours let me know.

The sound is rather bland and uninspiring but with a little tweaking it'll do in most occasions. Rather better than the P2k, definitely worse than the TR-rack. Just my 2 cents

Very few pro rigs are without the 1080 or 2080. GM sounds are pretty useless (aren't they all?!), but most of the other presets can be tweaked and put to good use. Some of the presets, especially the rhythmic ones, sound a little too familiar and have been used too much, but editing and programming are a cinch, so that's not an issue. With the expansion boards, there is plenty of material to find what you need in most any genre. Alone, I'd give this a high 3 or low 4, but since it's always in a mix of 3 or 4 sounds, it gets a 5. I never use it alone and am always very satisfied with the results. I also own a JV1010 with all the 2080 sounds and room for another board. I actually opted for this configuration over the 2080 as it gave me more voices and sounds than if I had bought just a 2080. The price difference right now between the two is about $300. - $350., so this was a good option for me. Plus, call me crazy, but I like the display on the 1080 better than the wierd green one on the 2080. Just a personal preference. This satisfies all my Roland pad, string, and EP needs 10 times over.

This is the best module out there right now. Expandability, great interface,polyphony,sounds good, you can play any type of music on it. It's a ral workhorse. People have told me that those are some really amazing, and versatile sounds coming from that machine. I mean you can come up with some really off the wall stuff with this baby.
