Fred: you are so wrong. I don't think you've played with it much. This machine fits into any genre of music. You just have to know what you are doing. It's a fantastic machine. I think most people have a problem with it because it's a workhorse. It's all things to all people. Which is one of the many reasons why it's popular. A Classic machine.

Rollie a professional user from UK writes:
Very usable as an enhancer to a midi stack. Stand alone it sounds great. Sounds lose appeal in a mix with analogs though. Can be programmed well. It's digital and it sounds it. Filter it through a 4-pole and it will come alive. Sub basses are very deep. Overall sound is satisfactory but out-dated. Modulation possibilities are numerous yet far from outstanding in result compared to so many other synths in the price range either new or used. Need GM stuff get a sound canvas.

CROCE a professional user from USA writes:
My experience with the jv 1080 has been great. I spend a lot of time programing and creating unique and complex sounds, you only have to spend time with it and you can get it as warm as you want it. I have some of the most awsome textured WARM sounds coming out of my jv, and when I layer them with my other gear..... look out. Its all in how you layer and pick your sounds that make your patch and then of course use your imagination with your programing.

this thing might be a legend but compared to other synths today like the proteus 2000, triton or even a cs-6x this doesnt stand a chance! belive me, i have one and i am going trade it. its not like its unusable but it sound plastic and faked and has no warmth or depth at all (ok the vinatge card has some nice sounds). a couple of years ago it was great but now i can do without it. dont let the 'high sell rate' fool you, save your money!
