this is the synth equivilent of batmans utility belt, it's great for weddings,
good for bar work and drum & bass. PLUS I got mine from a certain german
mail order company for 650 new. I like it.

First of all it's a great all-round machine, and most of the patches are wery usefull
and sounds great. I'm using a Kurzweil PC88 as a masterboard, and they're getting along
fine. It's just a few things I'm missing with the JV1080. First I'm missing that really
great Grand Piano-sound. I'm playing a lot of gospel and jazz (big band), and I needed
a better, more punchy piano-sound. I found it in the Yamaha P50 module. Second I'm missing
some fat, powerfull leed-sounds. But all together it's exellent, especially used together
with a seequenser. The pads and strings are great, and there's some great noisy sounds for
effects. I also have the Dance-card and the 60/70's, and they're great too.
Considering the price, it's the best there is.

Well - I'm not a huge fan of S&S boxes - but this is a brilliant bit of kit to have...Really well specified , brilliant range of very useable and playable sounds , a powerful synthesis engine , tone of polyphony (64note) , excellent onboard effects and you can custom expand it to suit you taste...I reckon around this proce range there isn't any competition. Its become something of a studio standard bit of gear . Infact I dont think the 2080 has imrpved on the 1080 much at all - especially not enough to justify shelling out the extra cash for the 2080. Its a great all rounder with many suprising sounds...the only downside is the synth rpgramming is a little more fiddly (typical Roland) than it should be.

As a church musician in gospel style, I've found this incredible guy cut through everything from crowded people or only a group of people at night. I like the digital piano that range from Rhodes to FM (except wurly, but you can do it yourself) a great combination of E.piano and string, some killing pads. My disappointment is in the brass section, not enough energy for you to pump up the whole groove. A coll hidden patch via tone selection make you more than 512 patches, I always combine some nice E.piano with Korg o1w analog pad for great sound.

It was my 1st module to add to my KORG 01W/PRO. I thought the KORG had good
piano sounds. It does not even come close the JV1080 module. The Bass guitars & drum patches are aso
excellent. In fact, I loved the JV1080 so much, I went & bought a XP-80. Now, we
are talking plenty of polyphony. It is the best sounding module out right now.
Also, the "Bass & Drums" expansion card is awesome! The 2 favorite piano patches of mine are the
MK-80 Rhodes & the MIDI-Grand. They can't be beat in my opinion!
