Bought my baby while these thing were still sold over the counter.
Still got it and wont get rid of it .I was thinking of turfing it and figured
id take time out to program my jx10 to imatate my favourite patch of the jx3P
Well no go, the jx10 didnt have that dirty harmonic content that just rips
through the 3P.
(yea a dirty digital oscilator, and my unit had to warm up for stable pitch)
Now more than ever i appriciate the JX3P.
Some of its good points:
-Dual oscilators
-truly a hybrid sythn (part digital part analog)
-sync mode and ringmodulator
-HPF
-that sound
-step seq(at least you can triger it)
-there still cheap
Ive watched the prices on the second hand market go up & down in price trends
secretly hoping they,d go super trendy!!! no luck yet.
SOME BAD POINTS:
-harder to program without PG200(though with practice can get quite slick)
-poor midi (the mks what ever is much better)
-not touch sensitive(no kidding)
-no after touch
-patch dump via taperecorder(it works though)
Roland have or had!! a mod they could do to JX3P that made them touch sensitve
and after touch as well as better midi specs(sorta bought it the up to the rack
version the MKS what ever)
Though im a bit shaky on the exact details.. On a personal level ive got some patchs that sound so big just holding one note
It blends well with other sythns and can also sound angry. And the strings, well.
and i got an accordian sound that if you close your eyes, your back in ol par'ee
just be on the volume knob, but easy ive had to replace mine volume pot three
times , not to mention cleaning under the keyboard contacts rubbers well thats it
