The K3m is an enigma. Its a digital/analog hybrid in the pure sense of the term. Unlike most hybrids, which are analogs with DCO's for tuning stability, this is a true mix of REAL digital oscillators and analog filters and amps. That's real digital oscillators as in 32 waveforms, not sawtoooth/triangle/square/pulse. The result is a machine that can do a convincing DX-7 rhodes AND pull-off a JX-8p emulation in a pinch. Pros: Programming easeFM clarity and definition and analog thichness...sometimes in the same patch Cons: 6-voice polyphony (Kawai took the analog thing too far), crappy 2 digit LED readout. Conclusion: Solid digital role player, that can fill in for an analog, in a pinch
