The k11 is an excellent board the micro tunings on this unit make it possible to orchestrate some very good sounding orchestral arrangements and the sounds on it are very versatile for other types of music.. But i allways say it's not the sounds but how you use them it's not the paint but how and what you paint....

Janusz Bogucki a hobbyist user from Poland writes:
I'm happy I sold it. It is a mistake. First - lack of after-touch response (K-1 had, why we shouldn't expect it in next model?). Second - only three degrees of resonant filtering. Three - poor, poor effect unit, only 8 versions of reverb, no choruses, flangers, etc. Additionaly no sliding control of effect's depth, only switch high/low. Four - plastic sounds. Five - rolling knob for data entry (like Roland's alpha-dial) is analog slider (not jagged) and has inclination to efface. In result numerical data leaps randomly during programming or selecting sounds.

Don't buy it. If you are looking for entry-level, low budget GM synth, choose Roland JV-30 or Yamaha CS1X or Korg X5. Every is much better than Kawai.

I'VE HAD THIS SYNTH FOR 6 YEARS. GREAT FOR BEGINNERS & DECENT PIANO SOUNDS FOR THE BUCK. FROM MY EXPERIENCE, SUCKS FOR HOUSE MUSIC, WHICH I'M INTO.

This was my first synth...as a basic controller it was OK. Just pitch and mod wheels and the keyboard, but it has two midi ins and two outs (no thru), so I could connect one set to the computer and daisy chain the other module (an RY 10, ha ha ha) to the other midi out. As a synth (i.e. a sound generating device) it sucks pretty bad, but was marginally better than the generic soundcard I was using. I sold it and have no regrets whatsoever, but if you need a keyboard to hook up to your computer to pratice piano or control your soft synths, you could do a lot worse. At the least, it's solidly built.

Al Stein a professional user from USA writes:
I have used the K-11 as a second synth and controller for a few years. This past weekend, something in the trailor broke one of the keys (Eb). I contacted Kawai via their website, and had a replacement key within 3 days. Total cost with shipping to me was < $20. Their tech support was quick to return a call to me, after I sent an initial email. I was suprised at the high level of support, for a keyboard like this.
