programming is a nightmare(very complex).the arpeggiator is nothing short of brilliant. unique tones and sounds, unheard by the human ear are to be found here. as for the fx,delays arn't that bad and the band pass filter is quite usefull.

This is really an exciting synth. While it is complex, it's not really the bugaboo everyone makes it out to be. I've found it to be quite intuitive and it has an excellent display. Although it is thought to excell at cold and harsh timbres, I've programmed some good replications of Polysix sounds on it. The key action is incredible as is the build quality. This synth was made for live performance with the buttons below the disk drive and the 16 knobs for realtime manipulation. It's not a generic workstation synth so I'm not expecting realistic ROMpler-type sounds from it. I bought it for it's synthetic textures. I guess if I had a complaint, it would be the fact that you can't continue to play while loading sounds like you can on the XP series, so you'll have to wait while loading sounds. Other than that, a very cool, unique beast.

I have a K5000s and I sadly have to sell it, is the one with the best sound of all my keyboards. I bought it for $400 bot I do not know what the real price is. Please send me an e-mail with the sugest price.

Quite a powerhouse... first, I should mention that I actually have the W version, but since there's no seperate page to review those, I'll do it here. Keyboard action is great... editing can be a bit tedious, but here's the rundown: up to six Additive or PCM sources per patch. Additive sections give you either the first or last 64 of 128 harmonics, adjustable in various groups and each with it's own envelope (!). Additives also gives you a 128-band Formant Filter, with the bands adjustable in various groups or individually, and a global filter envelope. the FF is also modulatable by it's own LFO and/or assignable controllers. Then you have your standard DCO, DCF and DCA sections which all do what you'd expect and are applicable to the PCM sources (which I have never used on mine). Then there is the control section where you assign what does what to what and how much. And a surprisingly decent FX section, with it's own variable routing matrix.
I've gotten some crazy-ass sounds out of this thing (I do sound-design and experimental/electronic music)... the manual is mostly dedicated to the FX section and kind of sucks with regard to adequately explaining the synth engine. For a more thorough understanding of what this beast can do, the Wizoo guide is a must. If you're already synth savy, you should be able to figure a lot out just by poking through the menus. Memory is limited when you use a lot of Additive sources, but I guess that's what the disk drive and sys-ex dumps are for...
I highly recommend this to anyone who is into serious sound-design - though it can be a bit time consuming to gt to where you want to go with it, this machine offers a LOT of possibilities...
