Our bands recording studio always has equipment and such in there. One day our producer told me to take a look at a keyboard he had jus gotten in. It was the Kawai 5000s. from the moment i had turned it on i was put in awe by the pure diversity of this synth. never before had i heard a synth that jus overall sound like this kawai. I wont dare compare it to my jp8000 and juno 60, because that would be a sin. the synthesis type is tricky to say the least, but i like it. the arpeggiator is wicked. i REALLLLY like it. and how cool!! the casing is blue and metallic!! what a cool change!! i think this synth deserves a 5 for originalty!

I just picked up the k5000w on sale for $799. I'd heard one breifly in a store and knew I would like it. The great part is that after I've had it for a few days is that instead of being used to the sound it still surprises me. I thought it would need the extra sounds over the s model to make it complete but I find the additve banks have more life to them. It reminds me of the wavestation. Hopefully these will prove more reliable! All in all a great buy.Good sounds, features and well built. It would get a five if not for the poor manual.

I just picked up a K5000W from Musician's Friend for $750! This baby is a dream come true. The sounds are amazing even without the knobs(the W doesn't have 'em). Take the time to explore the touch sensitive effects. These sound "LIVE" under your fingers. There are subtilties to these sounds that are soooooo expresive. The sequencer is a snap to use. I can't imagine using all 40 tracks. The sounds are so lush that 3-5 tracks really fill up the space and then you can add a few more tracks for drums. Yes the W has about 10 different drum sets and a GM bank. When I get bored ;) I can jump into the additive synth, but for now, I'm happy playing with the presets and downloading patches from the web.

Got rid of my buggy Yamaha EX5 (nightmare) and bought the K5000S from the SAM ASH blowout. I already owned a K5000R so I knew how nice it would be. I have to say I definitely do not regret the decision. The controller works well, is solid and well made. The arpegiator is very nice. All in all just what I hoped it would be. The bonus is that I am using alot more of the K5K series on my new CD project than I thought I would so the increased polyphony of two units is a real plus. The K5000 Series complements my Kurzweil K2500R and my Novation Supernova very nicely. Now if I only had a Korg TR-Rack it would be icing on the cake.

I`m blown away by this synth. It gets down to buisnes! And the filtering blows away most.Whant real time controll? You got it,and all for under $500.00.Anyways who is this John burdick character from sloveia on this list?He list that this thing "Is a tottal piece of sh t" but he cant list one good reason for saying that, wow what an angry little man!Hes probably disapointed whith some new Roland keyboard or analog whanabee he paid too much for!Don`t listen to him hes just confused or hasnt tried one out.But then again you cant please everyone can you? This isnt a analog, pcm or dig wanabee its tottaly original sound!
