XD5s rock I bought two of them when Guitar center was blowing them out for $200.00 years back.They make some crazy but usefull for industrial sounds,yes the cyballs do suck though.All in all worth every penny!

its a great drum synth, does a good jon with its 808 sounds.. it can also do some

fairly realistic drum sounds if you are looking for that.. one major complaint

is that the open hihat doesnt close when you play a closed highhat.. it just

keeps going.. but overall, if you can get one for $200 or less, get it, its well worth it.

Simply put: The XD-5 is Kraftwerk in a box. You can get very synthetic sounds with the XD-5.

Extreme tuning, Resonant filters, layering of sounds,

envelope control, Ring Modulation, all make it very powerful.

It is the best drum module around. Even better than an RM-50.

(The RM-50 has a powerful midi implementation but the sounds

are terrible and lifeless) I only wish it had a better panning control. The output patch

section is too confusing. If you want synthetic sounds get the XD-5. If you want acoustic sounds

get an alesis D-4 (not the DM-5).
