i've got three months ago a 707 for 100 Euro in perfect condition but i replaced the internal battery, so all the presets were deleted during changing the battery. After that i started to create my own sounds and i must say 707 can sound like a modular monster ! it produces very complex pecussive and agressive FM-stuff. In my opinon Korg 707 was one of the last cool and organic synth of Korg. It can easy kick Microkorg or radias away.

One of the worst sounding synth I ever owned. I used it only like strap-on masterkeyboard. There is no usuable preset, but two holds for the strap can be quite usuable (there are just few instruments with these holds with dynamic keyboard e.g. Roland AX-7 -is too much expensive for this fun)

Kelly Minnis a hobbyist user from USA writes:
Bought mine last year locally for $50 just to use as a MIDI controller but I'm quite impressed with its flexible programming. I've read the negatives about early FM synthesis but I like the noisy quality of the synth engine on the 707. I also like having real-time control of the filter (though it is very squelchy.)

I'm only using the presets but hope to pick up either a RAM or ROM card for it soon. I really like the synth orchestra and brass tones (they are very early '80s!) and the 707 has a very believable Wurlitzer electric piano tone. And it's very portable. My one complaint is that the velocity sensitivity seems a little off. I have to hammer the keys to get it to respond.

rrooyyccee a part-time user from USA writes:
A unique but not amazing synth. . . it simplifies 4 op FM synthesis into a 2 oscillator synth with analogue subtractive-like programming parameters along with sliders for timbre (simulating increased filter cutoff by allowing for oscillator modulation), FEG and AEG decay/release time. It tends to deepfry itself, perhaps because of low resolution d/a convertors, which produces interesting aliasing side effects which you can either filter out later or filter "in" for wierd effect. Nice user interface. The sounds is very dx100. Take note that the portamento is the worst portamento I've ever heard, as it steps badly. This can be used as its own effect, but keep in mind the portamento is very idiosyncratic. Excels in high pitched sounds.
